Parade of Heroes

Shawnee Mission Rotary is extremely proud to announce that one of our own was honored recently at the first annual Parade of Heroes sponsored by the Village West Rotary.  On September 27, 2007, Lee Lamar was one of many veterans who were honored in the parade.  Lee served our country in the Army Air Forces during World War II.  In fact, he and the other 9 members of his plane's crew survived being shot down over Italy during the war.  Lee and 3 others were captured and held as prisoners of war for 6 months.  Our deepest gratitude goes out to Lee and all of our service men and women who have made such great sacrifices to preserve our American way of life.

We've Struck Water!!!

It is with great honor and humility that Shawnee Mission Rotary can announce that the water project we contributed toward has found success.  In Ramada Kenya, a well was dug 234 meters into the ground.  They hit water at 166 meters, and it appears that the water depth is 60 meters, which is very good news!

Shawnee Mission Rotary raises $2119 on Greater Kansas City Day

On April 2nd, many club members participated in Greater Kansas City Day.  Shawnee Mission Rotary raised $2119.00 by selling newspapers.  Half of that money will go to benefit the Club 13 Rotary Youth Camp, and the other half will go to our club's designated charity, the Sunflower House.
